I lead small autonomous teams with clear ownership and short feedback loops. We have worked with Scrum since early 2021. I took a junior team with no established process to independent delivery. That team builds edge.SHIELDOR to this day, and several of its engineers have grown into senior roles. I stay close to the technology: TypeScript, C#, Docker, embedded Linux.

I'm responsible for the OT security products edge.SHIELDOR and edge.PSL as well as for the secure development lifecycle behind our TÜV certification to IEC 62443-4-1 ML-2. I'm a member of the VDMA expert group “Security Solutions for Industry” and the CISO Alliance working group “OT-Security”.

I designed the foundational architecture of edge.SHIELDOR and am co-inventor on the resulting patent for a secure OT gateway. It is granted in Europe and the US and filed in Israel.

At the Institute for Communications Technology I researched distributed energy management and the Internet of Things. I wrote the open-source IoT platform osiota there and earned my PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in 2019.

At TU Braunschweig I studied electrical engineering with a specialisation in communications engineering. My diploma thesis on iterative decoding in speech recognition (“Iterative Decodierung in der Spracherkennung”) worked with hidden Markov models.

There I built my first Linux-based gateways for the Bürgernetz product. They were rolled out across Germany in large numbers.

Beyond work
I mostly dance Tango Argentino and Salsa. I also photograph people. I volunteer with ags at TU Braunschweig and with unitiativ. At ags I spent years producing live TV for CampusTV and running servers. Together with friends I run the small shared server nerdbox.de. It also hosts this site.
